Affirming & Compassionate Therapy Based in Wilmington, NC

Build self-compassion, learn to say no and live the authentic life you actually want.

Let's talk

What if you didn’t need to do more to feel better?

I help anxious folks get out of survival mode and return to themselves again.

A woman with tattoos on her arm is sitting on a beige couch, reading a book titled 'No Bad Parts' by Richard C. Schwartz, PhD. She is wearing an orange sleeveless top and beige pants, with brown boots. She appears to be in a relaxed setting near a window with blinds, and a decorative rug is visible on the floor.

Survival Mode

Ends Here

Perfectionism and people-pleasing have been your most used survival skills. As a queer human and psychotherapist in the South, I get the feeling of survival mode. What you’ve been feeling is a normal response to the, at times, overwhelming and demanding world we live in. I believe we can draw from your inner magic to unearth wisdom, strength and healing.

A woman with glasses and short brown hair, wearing an orange sleeveless top and brown pants, sitting on a white sofa in a cozy home office. She's holding a book and looking at the camera with a slight smile. In the background, there's a wooden desk with a computer, a lamp, and office supplies, along with a wall painting of ocean waves.

If you’re like the folks I see…

You’ve been putting everyone else’s feelings ahead of yours. Feeling responsible for feelings that aren’t yours. Holding back your words to try to put a lid on the anxiety. Letting the boundaries you want to set slip away.

The systems we live in expect us to be “yes men.” Productive no matter the costs and expected to take on more. You’re taught to push through your limit.

Meanwhile, you’re trying to draw water from an empty well. Somewhere along the way, you lost touch with who you are.

What if you don’t need fixing? That fear that something is wrong with you? What if that is just an old story you’re telling yourself?

Let’s start with the strengths you already have.

I help folks put perfectionism and people-pleasing to rest, build self confidence and quiet the overthinking noise with evidence-based methods.

This practice is born out of the idea we all just need a little support to feel like us again.
